Two Small Tales

Tale 1: A Tale of Two Trucks Now that Ryan has as pretty good handle on his colors, we've been working on numbers from one to ten. He's picking it up pretty quickly, and has been counting to 2 for awhile now. The other day, he had two of his little tonka trucks in front of him, so I added a third and asked him to count them. He counted: "one...two...fee!" Then I added a fourth one, and said "How many do you have now?" and he counted: "one...two...fee...two! Two trucks!" He's so smart! :) Tale 2 : A Midnight Snack In the last couple weeks, Ryan has been getting in his 2 year molars, also the last of his baby teeth - and that's something we can be thankful for as parents since Ryan is miserable every time he gets new teeth. As part of that misery, he tends to wake up and cry in the middle of the night (poor baby!). A few nights ago, though, he changed things up a bit... Normally, I'm a pretty light sleeper and I hear Ryan, but on this particular night, Eric had to persistently wake me up and ask me "What should we do about Ryan?" as Ryan was whining in his room. I gave absolutely no intelligible answer - ever - as I was half asleep, but did stumble into Ryan's room to see what was going on. Once I arrived, he stopped whining and very clearly said "Goldfish!" Even in my stupefied state, this cracked me up and after gently explaining to him that it was the middle of the night, and we should be sleeping, he was happy to lay back down. I'm glad to see that Ryan inherited his mother's love of food ;).
