Beer Madness 2010: Results Show

Last weekend we hosted our third annual Beer Madness blind tasting tournament. Participants brought some excellent contenders this year; there were a lot of hard choices, and there weren't any that more than a couple people disliked. In one round a number of people noted "Can I vote for both??" The beer category of choice this year was the wheat beer: wheats and Belgian Blondes made up half the bracket.

A surprising poor contender was Dogfish Head, one of our favorite local alehouses. Both the 60 minute IPA and the Indian Brown Ale were eliminated in the first round. (Last year's final four member Raison D'Etra was not entered this year).

The Haggards continued their streak in the final game with runner-up Magic Hat Spring 2010 Odd Notion. The Shreiners continued their streak of unfortunate seedings when their excellent beers lost to the winner and a final four member in the opening round.

At the end of the night this year's winner was Leinenkugel Sunset Wheat. It will take its place alongside Yuengling, Magic Hat #9 and Blue Moon as Beer Madness winners and a frequent member of our grocery list.
